about

A selection of film and theatre music written in Melbourne from the years 1999-2001, available here for the first time as IMM999.

Martin Four directed by Ben Hackworth was shown in the Cinéfondation section at Cannes FIlm Festival 2001, the soundtrack featuring some amazing alto flute playing from Bohjass' Belinda Woods, recorded at ABC Southbank by later BBC balancing engineer Adele Conlin.

12th Night was directed by Bob Pavlich at LaTrobe's Moat Theatre Festival in 1999, and featured a live band of keyboards (AP), double bass (Gregory Craske), turntables (Luke Peyton), guitar (Jeremy Collings) and drums (Luke Fitzgerald). Jeremy and Greg also played on the Martin Four Soundtrack. This was also recorded by Adele Conlin at the now defunct LaTrobe Music Department recording studio in Bundoora.

Bing was the first collaboration between Pateras and Eron Sheean (their last was Errors of the Human Body, released on Editions Mego, 2011) and was featured at Telluride Film Festival in 2001. This soundtrack features Natasha Anderson (contrabass recorder), Jeremy Collings (cello/double bass/audiomulch), Anthony Pateras (prepared piano) and Erkki Veltheim (viola) and was again recorded by Adele Conlin.

Anderson, Veltheim and Pateras went on to numerous collaborations including Twitch Ensemble, the music for Pia Borg's When Objects Dream (Tzadik, 2008), Another Other (Chamber Made Opera, 2014), the Kayfabe electronics duo and the Pateras/Veltheim IMM002 release. Adele became one of the best sound engineers in London.
